As a small business owner, life sometimes feels like a whirlwind. Rarely do I find (see: choose) time to sit down and reflect on what I’m learning and how I can improve myself.
I’m constantly trying to learn new skills in my business and be the best at what I DO. But I found myself forgetting to focus on ME.
So, I recently decided to take some time away from Tennessee and go on a mini vacation to one of my all-time favorite places- San Francisco!
Being intentional about finding times to rest and experience different places and perspectives renews the human spirit in a way that few other things can.
Whether it was seeing the Golden Gate bridge immersed in fog, taking an early-morning walk in Sausalito or seeing Picasso paintings in MoMA, I can tell you that my whole trip reminded me of one key truth:
It’s important to slow down and take time to enjoy life.
This is an intentional attitude that we as humans have to choose to embrace! And you don’t have to take a cross-country trip to experience this (though it helps!).
At it’s core slowing down and enjoying life is vital whether you’re busy, when you’re happy, when you’re going through hell, when you’re in the mundane parts of life. It’s an every day decision, not just an ideal or a nice mantra. This is something I’m working to improve on.
Ultimately, I say all this to encourage you to live an enjoyable life and to challenge myself to keep believing this day in and day out.
As a photographer, this trip to San Francisco reminded me that photography isn’t just what I do for a living; it reminded me why I fell in love with it. It gave a chance to really ENJOY photography.
This fall, even in the midst of the craziness, take some time to SLOW DOWN and ENJOY your life.
Drop me a line telling me how you’re doing this!
Striving to be my best,
